چکیده

Abstract Purpose The use of peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) has increased recently; several reports have revealed that they can be easily and safely used in patients with various diseases. However, there are few on the PICCs head neck cancer. This study was aimed at evaluating safety feasibility Materials Methods We retrospectively analyzed date 118 PICC insertions 85 cancer from January 2014 to December 2017. been placed under ultrasound guidance all cases. Results puncture success rate 95.2%. Catheter-related bloodstream infection occurred four most common complication necessitating removal suspected catheter-related (24 cases). All cases confirmed improved administration antimicrobial agents. Phlebitis five cases, whom placement had made via an antecubital vein; condition without treatment Deep vein thrombosis two both which oral anticoagulant therapy. Conclusion demonstrated complications associated ultrasound-guided insertion manageable, improve conservative majority Therefore, may considered for easy safe access cancer, because acceptable.

The risk of venous thromboembolism associated with peripherally inserted central catheters in ambulant cancer patients

BACKGROUND Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common complication of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). PICCs are increasingly utilised in the management of cancer patients, a group which carries both additional risks for vascular thromboembolism as well as for complex morbidity. We analysed a cohort of cancer patients subjected to PICC insertion in a single cancer centre for the inc...

Complication rates among peripherally inserted central venous catheters and centrally inserted central catheters in the medical intensive care unit.

PURPOSE There are limited contemporary data describing the rates of catheter-related deep vein thrombosis (CRDVT) and central line-associated bloodstream infection for peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) and centrally inserted central venous catheters (CICCs) in the medical intensive care unit (ICU). METHODS We performed a retrospective cohort study of 200 PICCs (dual/tripl...

Risk factors for venous thrombosis associated with peripherally inserted central venous catheters.

To evaluate the risk factors associated with an increased risk of symptomatic peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC)-related venous thrombosis. Retrospective analyses identified 2313 patients who received PICCs from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013. All 11 patients with symptomatic PICC-related venous thrombosis (thrombosis group) and 148 who did not have thromboses (non-thrombo...
